- E! for Windows - Technical Note #017
- ****************************************
- Renaming a file by using File Save As...
- ****************************************
-
- When saving a file using the File Save As... command, the saved file will
- most often be renamed. Please note that the various User sets normally
- attached to the new filename extension will not be assigned to this file.
- For example, if you have created a new file, currently named NONAME1,
- saving it as MYFILE.C will not activate C Syntax Highlighting for this
- file.
-
- The attachment of User Sets (keyboard, HDF file, etc...) is done when the
- Editor object is created and cannot be reinitialized.
-
- So, you will have to close the file and to reload it to benefit from
- automatic attachment of User Sets.
-
- There's a workaround, however. If you uncheck the "Untitled New Files"
- option, E! will force you to name any new file. This way, attachment of
- User Sets will be done normally. However, if you give the file a new
- extension, the same problem will appear.
-
- Another workaround is to create the file with the Open button instead of
- using the NEW button. E! will not find the file and will ask you whether
- you want to create it. Answer Yes. The new Editor object will have the
- correct name and will benefit from automatic attachment of User Sets.
-
- We'll try to enhance this behavior in the future.
